Since January 15, 2017, French minors travelling abroad without both parents must carry a travel authorization (autorisation de sortie du territoire — AST). Here is everything you need to know in 2026.
When Is It Required?
- Child travelling abroad without one or both parents
- Travelling with only one parent (the other must sign)
- Travelling with a third party (teacher, association)
- Not required if both parents accompany the child
Required Content (CERFA 15646*02)
- Child's identity (name, birth date and place)
- Signing parent's identity
- Accompanying adult's full identity and ID number
- Destination country and travel dates
- Date, place, and parent's signature

- Copy of signing parent's ID
- Child's valid travel document (passport or national ID card)
